A three-member bench headed by Justice Rohinton F. Nariman made the remarks during a hearing on the parole petition of Jagjit Singh Chahal, a businessman in Punjab. Justice Nariman said that the condition of Corona is not getting better with each passing day. The situation is only getting worse. The bench said that in view of the prevailing situation there is no sense that a person on parole should be sent back to a crowded jail again. Saying this, the bench has extended Chahal's parole until the appeal is pending in the High Court.
