Michael Fatialofa returned to Worcester Warriors' training ground on Tuesday in an emotional moment for the player and his team-mates.

The lock, who was released from hospital last week after suffering a severe contusion of the spinal cord within a minute of coming on as a replacement in a clash with Saracens, continues to make a remarkable recovery.

Fatialofa had been in hospital since 4 January. He spent almost three weeks in intensive care in London before being transferred to the rehab unit at the Royal Buckinghamshire hospital in Aylesbury.

Within 11 weeks, he was walking unaided having been paralysed from the neck down.

His return to the club was a landmark moment and Worcester put up banners in what was a warm welcome for the 27-year-old New Zealander.

The Warriors had previously said they will support the next stage in Fatialofa’s recovery with a programme supervised by Ryan Kehoe, the club’s head of medical. Fatialofa will also have use of the facilities at the club's Sixways ground.
