16 RAN VIRUS COVID UPDATE VISHANT

Ranchi: Jharkhand on Tuesday recorded 34 new Covid cases from eight districts. Along with the 12 cases reported from East Singhbhum late on Monday night, the state now has 1,839 positive cases, of which 709 are active, 1,121 have recovered and nine have died.
Of the fresh cases, 24 are from Simdega, three from Ranchi, two each from East Singhbhum and Ramgarh and one each from Garhwa, Gumla and Lohardaga
After a massive spike in Covid cases in the first 10 days of June, there has been some respite for Jharkhand with the state reporting average of 50 cases per day being in the last six days. From 635 cases on May 31, the state’s tally increased by 916 in 10 days, taking the number of total cases to 1,551 on June 10.
In a bulletin issued on Tuesday evening, the state health department said Jharkhand has a Covid-19 recovery rate of 60.95%, which is higher than the national average of 52.49%. The mortality rate too is much lower in Jharkhand compared to the rest of India. The mortality rate for Covid-19 here is 0.49% against the national rate of 2.89%.
The state government has so far collected samples of 1,12,116 persons from across the state and the results of 1,10,813 have arrived, the bulletin said, adding that 73,947 persons are in institution quarantine centres 2,98,848 are in home isolation.
