Trichy Corporation begins demolition of Puthur market

TRICHY: The Trichy Corporation has begun demolition of Puthur vegetable market on the Thennur high road to make way for a new commercial complex sanctioned under the Smart Cities Mission.
The three-floor commercial building will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 20.20 crore. The tender for the 5,000- square-metre commercial complex was floated in August last year.
Soon, the adjoining shops in the fish market will be moved to Kasivilangi fish market on the Kuzhumani Road. Once the relocation is completed, the corporation will demolish the Puthur fish market too.
