Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for an all-party meeting on Friday to discuss the escalation in tension with China in border areas and look for possible solutions.
"In order to discuss the situation in the India-China border areas, Prime Minister @narendramodi has called for an all-party meeting at 5 pm on June 19. Presidents of various political parties would take part in this virtual meeting," the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) tweeted on Wednesday.
Armed forces from both countries had a violent face-off in the Galwan Valley along the disputed Indo-China border on Monday night with casualties on both sides.
India and China engaged in a blame game on Tuesday accusing each other of causing the violence.
While China warned India against crossing the borderlines, the latter said that it was China that was unilaterally responsible for breaking the status-quo at the border.
Both the Congress and the CPI(M) reacted strongly to the killing of Indian soldiers by the Chinese and said that high-level talks should happen soon between the two countries to defuse the situation.
