NEW DELHI: Delhi now has 503
rail coaches converted into mobile isolation wards for Coronavirus patients to take care of the mounting number of patients, officials said.
The coaches have been deployed at nine stations in the capital. Shakurbasti and Sarai Rohilla stationed have 50 each, Delhi Cantonment 33, Adarsh Nagar 30, Safdarjung 21, Tughlaqabad and Shahdara 13 each and Patel Nagar 26.

These coaches are among 906 that have been deployed in various states so far. Some 372 have been in UP, 60 in
Telengana, 20 in Andhra Pradesh and five in
Madhya Pradesh.
The isolation coaches are meant to be used only after a state’s health infrastructure is exhausted and will be under the control of state’s health establishment. Patients with confirmed infection and those awaiting test results would be put in separate coaches. In cases with confirmed infection, two patients can be placed in one cabin. But in case of those awaiting test results, only one cabin will have only one patient.
