COVID ensnares 37 more people

The state continued to report new cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) as 37 more persons tested positive for the pandemic on Tuesday, taking the total number of active cases to 544.

As many as 17 of the 37 new cases are from the locality of Mangor Hill, the containment zone in Vasco, while seven cases are linked to the Mangor Hill.

As per the media bulletin issued by the directorate of health services, new cases also include three cases each from Baina and Headland Sada, Vasco, and one each from Chimbel and Raia while three cases from Maina Curtorim. 

Till date, Goa has seen 629 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 544 are active, while 85 patients have defeated the deadly virus. According to the DHS, 544 active cases include 76 persons who travelled from outside Goa by road, trains, and flights; 288 residents

of Mangor Hill, while 167 cases are linked to the containment zone.

The major locations from where cases are surfacing include New Vaddem (12), Morlem (17), Baina (27), Chimbel (11) and Headland Sada (20).

According to the DHS, 12 new suspected cases of COVID-19 were reported in Goa on Tuesday. The DHS informed that of the 1,985 samples drawn for test on Tuesday, 1,306 tested negative, 37 tested positive while reports of the remaining 642 samples are awaited. The DHS has placed around 706 people under the quarantine facilities in various residencies and hotels across the state.
