Maina Curtorim sees 3 more COVID cases

Maina Curtorim on Tuesday recorded three more COVID positive cases, who include the wife of the driver who had tested positive for the pandemic on Monday.

Health officer of the Curtorim health centre Dr Vallab Nadkarni on Tuesday said, “The driver’s wife tested positive for the coronavirus when the test was conducted at the South Goa District Hospital. However, their two children have tested negative for the virus. She was with her husband in the hospital.”

Fifty samples of throat swab were collected on Monday. Of which 14 samples tested negative for the virus. Reports of other samples are awaited.

The three new COVID positive cases in Maina Curtorim panicked the villagers, who preferred to stay at home. Shops were seen closed at the marketplace. Acting sarpanch Simon Baretto clarified that no lockdown is in force in the village.

Twenty-three swab samples were also taken for the COVID testing. The samples, which were taken mostly of the people from Raia, were collected after a man from the village had also tested positive for the virus.
