Ajax Cape Town have posted a clearly unimpressed tweet in relation to GladAfrica Championship side Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC (TTM) buying their way into the top-flight of South African football.

TTM shocked the South African football fraternity when last Saturday they confirmed they had bought the status of 2016/17 champions, Bidvest Wits.

It's not the first time the Limpopo-based club have hauled out the chequebook in order to obtain promotion to a higher league rather than qualify to do so the good old-fashioned way.

In July 2017 the club purchased the National First Division (NFD) status of Milano United FC having previously languished in the ABC Motsepe League prior to that.

Prior to Covid-19 bringing an abrupt halt to football in the country - and around the world - TTM were in fourth place in the 16-team strong GladAfrica Championship some 10 points behind leaders, you guessed it, Ajax Cape Town.

With only six matches to play, TTM were in no realistic position to qualify automatically as league winners for the Absa Premiership - or whatever the top-flight in South African football will be called in the 2020/21 season after the banking giants pulled the plug on their 16-year association with the PSL and 13-year sponsorship of the league.

Clearly annoyed by the move made by TTM, Ajax Cape Town took to social media on Tuesday to write: If this is how you announce your bought premier league status the Venda people can be assured there will only be one year of a derby.Don't say you've never purchased your way to the top. Congratulations #EnvelopeFC

Comments predictably flowed, with 'Simphiwe Zungu' posting: I hate this purchasing of statuses. No protection for players and staff. This is just sad, period.

Ajax Cape Town agreed, replying with a simple: Absolute joke!

When 'Risiva' asked: Didn't you enquire about Celtics status not so long ago?, Ajax Cape Town responded with: We wanted to, then spoke to our fans and we all agreed the moral implications of moving or taking a team from fans is a poor way to conduct business.Massive difference between thinking about doing something and actually doing it.
