A man has been rushed to hospital after a near-drowning on the Sunshine Coast.

Emergency services were called to Ballinger Beach in Currimundi, north of Caloundra, just before 8am after lifesavers responded to the incident.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
