Moratorium case: Banks oppose waiver of loan interest; matter to be heard on June 17 by SC

In the ongoing moratorium case, bank have told the regulator and the government that they do not agree with the proposal to waive interest during the loan moratorium, the Economic Times reported citing people having direct knowledge of the matter. Worth mentioning here is that official from the finance ministry, Reserve Bank of India, Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) along with a few state-run bank chiefs got into a virtual huddle on Monday to finalise the government’s stand in the moratorium case.
