U.S. May Get Just 400 Units Of The BMW M2 CS

It is understood that the U.S. market will be allocated 400 units of the upcoming BMW M2 CS.

When the sports car was first presented late last year, it was claimed that roughly 500 examples would land on U.S. shores but that forecast number has since been reduced by 100. Although the production of the M2 CS isn’t technically limited and only constrained by the factory’s ability to produce it, the German car manufacturer hopes to build 2,200 examples.

BMW Blog notes that the M2 CS will launch in Europe this November while those in the United States will have to wait until 2021 to get their hands on the car.

Driving the M2 CS is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine producing 444 hp and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. The car comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission but can be optioned with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that drives the rear wheels and sends the car to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.8 seconds and through to a top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).

The M2 CS comes equipped with a host of other performance-focused parts including an upgraded braking system, an Active M Differential, and Adaptive M suspension.

On the styling front, the M2 CS certainly looks a lot more aggressive than the M2 Competition model thanks to a carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber hood, carbon roof, bespoke wheels, and a lip spoiler on the rear decklid.

Prices for the BMW M2 CS start at an eye-watering $83,600 in the United States, excluding a $995 destination fee.
