Goa’s active COVID cases cross 500-mark

Panaji: The state on Monday reported 28 fresh cases of the COVID-19 pandemic, taking the total number of active COVID-19 cases above  500-mark.
At the same time, 11 COVID patients recovered from the dreaded disease on Monday.
As many as 13 of the 28 new cases are linked to the locality of Mangor Hill, the containment zone in Vasco.
As per the media bulletin issued by the directorate of health services, new cases also include three from Chimbel, four from Headland Sada, Vasco, and two cases from Quepem.
Also, one case each has also been detected at Maina Curtorim and Raia.
Till date, Goa has seen 592 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 507 are active, while 85 patients have defeated the deadly virus.
According to the DHS, 507 active cases include 68 persons who travelled from outside Goa by road, trains, and flights, 271 residents of Mangor Hill; 160 cases are linked to the containment zone.
The major locations from where cases are surfacing include New Vaddem (12), Morlem (17), Baina (24), Chimbel (13) and Headland Sada (17).
According to the DHS, ten new suspected cases of COVID-19 were reported in Goa on Monday.
The DHS informed that of the 1,173 samples drawn for test on Monday, 853 tested negative, 28 tested positive while reports of the remaining 310 samples are awaited.
The DHS has placed around 1034 people under the quarantine facilities in various residencies and hotels across the state.
