The police service has distanced itself from the killing of 42-year-old Roger Cabie who was shot dead in Carapo on Monday evening.

In a statement to the media on Tuesday, the police said Cabie was the victim of gang warfare.

Northern Division and Homicide Bureau police, the statement said, responded to a report of a shooting.

“Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, notes the comments made that there were witnesses to this killing, yet no one has come forward to produce any information, photographs, videos, or even the number plates of any vehicles in the area at the time of the killing.”

Official police reports indicate, at about 6.30 pm police went to Simon Road, Carapo and saw a man on his back in the middle of the road with gunshot wounds.

He was declared dead by a district medical officer and identified shortly after.

The police said investigations have, so far, revealed that Cabie was seen talking to police who were in two vehicles which left shortly before he was killed.

Investigations also revealed, the police said, that the house where Cabie lived “was acquired by force.”

Witnesses to the killing are being asked to call 999, make a report via the police app or WhatsApp 482-GARY.
