SPPU also working on COVID testing centre

A ventilator has been developed by a university start-up, and necessary approvals and funding has been received for the same.

PUNE: Savitribai Phule Pune University is working towards setting up a COVID 19 testing centre in its premises, said SPPU Vice-chancellor Nitin Karmalkar in a statement to the media. He also said that a ventilator has been developed by a university start-up, and necessary approvals and funding has been received for the same.


Meanwhile, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises held a webinar interaction with start-ups from Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Enterprises, SPPU on Saturday.

'A group of faculty members from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) have now begun to volunteer at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune COVID-19 Testing Centre. To expand COVID-19 testing capability and pipeline output, SPPU will also be placing two RT-PCR machines for data validations at the IISER Pune COVID-19 Testing Centre', said a press release from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research.
