“Five nodal officers have been appointed to monitor key issues, including water and sewerage billing, property tax, use of recycled water, 900m buffer zone around ammunition depot, biodiversity park, C&D waste processing in Basai,” MCG official said.
In the taxation branch, zonal taxation officer of Zone-4, Dinesh Kumar, has handed over Zone-2 and the zonal taxation officer of Zone-2, Devender Kumar, has been assigned Zone-4. While in the sanitation department, senior sanitary inspector, Bijender Sharma will handle Zone-1 and is replaced by Rishi Malik, who has been given the charge of Zones 3 and 4.
Moreover, the MCG commissioner has also assigned division-wise duties to junior engineers to check waterlogging. These officials will keep a check on the issue till September.
The civic body has issued a procedure for verifying water supply and sewerage works above Rs 10 lakh and payment related to installation of streetlights. “For water supply and sewerage works, junior engineer of their respective zones will verify each work personally at the site with respect to its exact location, quality and specification as per the tender on a daily basis. The assistant engineer of their respective zone will check quality and specification of the work, quantum of the work executed and its sampling/result of test samples along with its latitude and longitude/GPS location on a daily basis,” an MCG official told TOI.
The executive engineer will submit a fortnightly report to the concerned chief engineer about any irregularity in the work executed by the agency for penalty or other action as per the tender or agreement. The concerned chief engineer will submit the report with a recommendation to additional commissioner (HQ) who will sanction the bills of the agency/contractor after imposing penalty, if any.
