Along with other inputs from the entertainment industry in the fight against the Coronavirus, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (ZEE) has donated 46 ambulances and 50 high-flow heated respiratory humidifiers to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Along with other inputs from the entertainment industry in the fight against the Coronavirus, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (ZEE) has donated 46 ambulances and 50 high-flow heated respiratory humidifiers to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). According to the company, this support will help in building a stronger capacity and improving healthcare infrastructure in Mumbai. It has announced a national level CSR drive to strengthen the fight against COVID-19.
The National level CSR drive commenced in the presence of Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackray, Minister for Tourism, Environment & Protocol, Government of Maharashtra, Aaditya Thackeray and ZEE Entertainment Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Punit Goenka.
"We are also significantly increasing our efforts on-ground to provide relief to migrants across the country," said Punit Goenka, MD, ZEE
The company also plans on donating 200 more ambulances, 40,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to multiple municipal corporations across India. The company will support multiple state governments, across ten different cities including Mumbai, Noida, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi and Chennai.
It also plans on making over 100 portable intensive care units (ICU) with state-of-the-art tech support. The company has also decided to provide 600,000 meals via an NGO called Akshaya Patra foundation. These will include 10,000 meals for migrants.
Iqbal Singh Chahal, the Commissioner of BMC said that Maharashtra has been facing a challenging time where being ahead of the virus is the only viable option to win the war against COVID-19. He also said that multiple ways and ideas have been implemented and many innovative measures in the health care and medical department have been taken to control the outbreak of the virus and reduce the number of positive cases in the state. "We are glad to receive this support from ZEE that will further strengthen our efforts while also ensuring the well-being of the citizens," he said.
