Home Minister Amit Shah earlier Sunday had said the Centre would also provide 500 railway coaches to Delhi to overcome the shortage of hospital beds for COVID-19 patients.
Coronavirus Cases in Delhi Mounts to 41,182 | Latest health bulletin shows 2,224 new cases of coronavirus were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative total to 41,182. The contract is for up to 400 million doses of the vaccine, developed by the University of Oxford, the company said, adding that it was looking to expand manufacturing of the vaccine, which it said it would provide for no profit during the pandemic.

Delhi: 40 Hotels, 80 Banquet Halls to be Converted to Covid-19 Facilities | The Delhi government has directed district magistrates and other officials concerned to set up nearly 20,000 more beds within a week in the wake of a spurt in Covid-19 cases in the national capital. Around 40 hotels and 80 banquet halls will be converted into health facilities to provide medical care to coronavirus-infected people.
West Bengal Records 389 New Coronavirus Cases | Latest health bulletin shows that West Bengal registered 389 new coronavirus cases and 12 deaths in the last 24 hours. The vaccine induced neutralising antibodies in "above 90 per cent" of people who were tested 14 days after receiving two injections, two weeks apart. There were no severe side effects reported, the company said in a statement.

The application, filed by United Nurses Association, has sought permission to intervene in the matter relating to the treatment of COVID-19 patients and dignified handling of dead bodies in the hospitals in which the apex court has taken cognisance on its own.

This was decided at a meeting with Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and chief minister Arvind Kejriwal among others to discuss the situation in Delhi. It was also decided to make the download of Centre’s contact tracing app Aarogya Setu mandatory in these high-risk zones, the home minister said.
The Delhi government ahead of the meeting declared plans to add 20,000 beds across hotels, banquet halls and nursing homes of the city over the coming week to cope with the spiraling coronavirus cases. The government said small and medium multispeciality nursing homes having 10 to 49 beds will be converted to "Covid nursing homes" and this will augment capacity by 5,000 beds. Hotels and banquet halls will add 11,000 and 4,000 beds respectively.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the country has gone up to 3,20,922 after a record 11,929 fresh infections were reported in 24 hours, according to figures released by Ministry of Health today morning. As many as 311 deaths were reported in 24 hours, taking the overall fatalities to 9,195.
The Covid-19 case tally in the capital has reached 36,000 and more than 1,200 people have died due to the virus.
The Assam government, meanwhile, is considering reimposing a lockdown in its main city Guwahati, depending on the result of 50,000 COVID-19 sample tests to be conducted soon, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday because of a spike in coronavirus infections.
"If a sizable number of positive cases are found after 50,000 samples are tested in Guwahati, total lockdown will be reimposed in the commercial city. Besides the lockdown, some strictest measures will be taken to check the spread of coronavirus," he told the media. Assam had reported 3,718 positive cases till Saturday night, including 1,902 active cases.
In all 1,805 patients have recovered from the dreaded virus while eight people have so far succumbed to the disease.
The overall recovery rate among COVID-19 patients in India was recorded at 49.95 per cent on Saturday, the Union Health Ministry said. The ministry has also added new signs of Covid symptoms such as loss of smell (anosmia) and loss of taste (ageusia) preceding the onset of respiratory symptoms.
The ministry said that on Friday the recovery rate was 49.47 per cent while on Thursday it was 49.21 per cent. It also stated that on Wednesday, the recovery rate was 48.88 per cent.
The ministry, quoting data of Integrated Health Information Platform/ Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme portal case investigation forms for Covid-19, said the details on the signs and symptoms reported (as on June 11) are -- fever (27 per cent), cough (21 per cent), sore throat (10 per cent), breathlessness (8 per cent), weakness (7 per cent), running nose (3 per cent) and others 24 per cent.
The new protocol provides for the management of COVID-19 cases based on the clinical severity of mild, moderate or severe condition. Infection prevention and control practices have also been specified according to the three stages of severity.
