NEW DELHI: A Pakistan politician has become the butt of jokes on social media after he suggested that to avoid the coronavirus infection people should sleep as "when we sleep the virus also sleeps". In an undated video circulating on social media, Fazal-ur-Rahman who was a member of Pakistan National Assembly for over two decades can be seen saying that doctors recommend people to sleep as much as possible. "The more you sleep, your virus will also sleep and it won't be able to harm you. Hence, it sleeps when you sleep then it also dies when we die," the cleric said.
When we sleep, virus sleeps. When we die, virus dies. Simple. https://t.co/F3cDrEzOZV
Social media had a field day as the video spread over the internet. One user said that the virus will die a death of shame after hearing cleric's comments, while another said that "the virus speaks when he speaks". The video has garnered over a thousand likes and has been shared more than 300 times.
