Covid-19 tally rises to 44,661 in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu saw a further increase of 1,974 coronavirus cases on Sunday to take the total infected in the State to 44,661. In Chennai alone 1,415 cases were reported. This takes those infected in the city to 31,896.

On Sunday, 1,138 patients were discharged after treatment to take the total number of treated persons to 24,547. This leaves the number of actives cases at 19,676.

On the day, 18,782 blood samples were tested. In all 7.1 lakh people have been tested in the State so far.

With 38 deaths on Sunday, the number of patients who died in the State due to the virus increased to 435, says a Health Ministry bulletin.
