KANPUR: Former MP of
Samajwadi Party tested positive for
Covid-19 on Saturday. He has been admitted to the
Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences's (UPUMS) Covid -19 hospital at Saifai in
Etawah after the report confirmed him positive for the virus on Saturday night.
According to Pro Vice Chancellor, UPUMS, Prof Ramakant Yadav, the leader was running a fever after which he underwent Covid-19 test at KGMU in Lucknow. "The lab report confirmed him positive for Covid-19 on Friday. On late Saturday night, he was admitted to Covid -19 hospital at UPUMS in Saifai," Yadav added.
Sources further informed that he had complained of fever when he reached Prayagraj from Delhi on June 11. "The same night he left for Lucknow where he got the Covid-19 test done at KGMU," said sources.
The district health department of Etawah is now doing contact-tracing to ascertain the people who came into contact with the former MP.
Meanwhile, municipal corporation on Sunday launched a massive sanitisation drive outside former MP's residence.
The sanitisation exercise is part of the campaign to prevent spread of Covid-19, said the SDM.
"We have been sanitising the whole area with mechanical and manual spray of sanitisers," the official said.
Sources also informed that the test report of former MP's gunner has come negative. "Now samples of his driver, besides four other persons who had accompanied former MP in the past few days have been taken and sent to Covid lab for further testing," said sources.
