Covid-19: Gujarat records 511 positive cases, 29 deaths in 24 hours; Tally at 23,590, toll at 1,478

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday recorded 511 Covid-19 positive cases, taking the state tally to 23,590. It's the second consecutive day and fourth in the past five days for the state where the state recorded 500-plus cases in a day.
In June, Gujarat has recorded 6,796 or 29% of the total Covid-19 positive cases of Gujarat. The month also recorded 30% of the state's total deaths so far.
Out of total cases, 334 were recorded from Ahmedabad, 76 from Surat, 42 from Vadodara and nine from Surendranagar. It was the seventh consecutive day for Ahmedabad district to record 320-plus cases daily or 13 cases every hour.
Gujarat recorded deaths of 29 Covid-19 positive patients, taking the state death toll to 1,478. The deaths include 22 from Ahmedabad, four from Surat and one each from Aravalli, Mehsana and Panchmahal.
Gujarat recorded discharge of 442 patients in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday, taking the total to 16,333. The discharges include 224 from Ahmedabad, 99 from Surat, 66 from Vadodara and 12 from Gandhinagar.
Out of 23,590 total Covid-19 positive patients in Gujarat, 5779 (24.5%) are active, 16,333 (69.2%) are discharged and 1478 (6.3%) are dead.
Gujarat carried out 4942 tests to find new Covid-19 positive cases in 24 hours, taking the total to 2.88 lakh. It was the third time in the past seven days that the daily tests have dipped below 5,000.
As on Sunday evening, Gujarat has 2.14 lakh persons under quarantine out of which 2.08 lakh are under home quarantine.
