GURUGRAM: The district administration on Saturday increased the number of containment zones in
Gurugram from 66 to 98. Of these, 94 are in Gurugram block and four in Pataudi, Farukkhnagar and Sohna.
“We have added 43 containment zones. But we have only sealed areas that have more than five Covid-19 cases within a 1-km radius. We are sticking to that,” a member of the containment zone review committee said.
Gurugram added 203 cases to its Covid-19 count and six patients died on Saturday. It has 3,125 cases now. Patients who do not have symptoms have been asked to isolate themselves at home. Faridabad, which added 100 cases on Saturday to go past the 1,000-mark with 1,086 cases, has 145 containment zones.
Another Gurugram official said there has been a flood of tweets from people complaining that the area they live in has not been sealed though a case has been reported.
“People should understand we cannot keep on sealing areas on the basis of one Covid case. The entire city would end up being sealed. And we need more personnel to do that. So we are only sealing areas that have more than five cases in a 1-km radius,” the MCG official added.
