A top automobile industrialist and his family hired a private charter flight from Mumbai and landed in Bengaluru on June 4 post noon. Reports suggest that the family travelled to the capital city of Karnataka to adopt a Golden Retriever pup from a kennel in Bengaluru's Hennur.

According to sources at Kempegowda International Airport, the industrialist and his family landed around 1:30 PM on June 4 and were carrying reports of their samples testing negative for the novel coronavirus.

The private jet flew back within two hours. Only difference being, this time, the family had an additional accompanying them inside the Bengaluru airport - the puppy.

Reports said there was a brief altercation between airport authorities and the industrialist as the Covid-19 reports in their possession were not issued by an ICMR-recognised laboratory. Later, the airport officials rechecked and confirmed the reports and found them to be authentic.

A government source said, "We made sure that we did our due checks. Did not treat anyone as a VIP. He came in with a private plane. But we did not check his purpose of visit to Bangalore."
