Maharashtra: KDMC imposes restriction in eight localities due to sudden rise of Covid-19 cases

KALYAN: The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation from Sunday has imposed restrictions in eight specific localities in Kalyan (West) from where numbers of coronavirus have suddenly increased in the last few days
The decision has been taken by KDMC chief Dr Vijay Suryawanshi who on Saturday evening passed order saying only essential services shops like grocery, milk, vegitable, and gas services will be opened in these localities till 5pm while other shops will remain closed till further order. The areas in which restrictions are imposed are- Maulavi Compound, Rohidas Wada, Ansari Chowck, Ambedkar Road, Retibandar, Tekdi Kabristan and Dudhnaka. The people from localities have been asked to avoid travel outside in absence of urgent work and also other people from other localities to enter area.
If KDMC sources are to be believed then residents in the area were opposing tests and survey by health team of KDMC. However looking at rise in cases to win confidence of community people, Dr Suryawanshi alongwith Additional Commissioner of Police Dr Dattatray Karale held a meeting of senior community leaders and appealed them to convince people from community to come forward for check ups.
The KDMC has also selected 25 volunteers that includes doctors and nurses who will help KDMC to check up people at these localities. The KDMC is even making a special quarantine Centre in locality so that people will not have to go outside locality to quarantine Centre. The community leaders from area have also appealed people to co-operate civic teams in to survey and also avoid to travel outside in absence of any urgent work.
