The crime branch arrested Arif Usman Mithaiwala and Faiz Bhiwandiwala . MUMBAI: The city crime branch has arrested two persons including the son of a well known sweet shop owner from Mahim with high quality American weed worth Rs 5 lakhs procure from the dark net.
American weed or Marijuana is most commonly used psychotropic drug used in US and there is big demand by youngsters particularly college going boys. The drug is sold for RS 2,400 per gram.
The crime branch unit 9 arrested Faiz Bhiwandiwala (25) and his friend Arif Usman Mithaiwala. Mithaiwala is the son of a well known sweet shop owner Usman Mithaiwala from Mahim.
Acting on the tip off the crime branch sleuths led by inspector Mahesh Desai and Sanjeev Gawde on Friday arrested Bhiwandiwala and Mithaiwala from Marva compound in Bandra west and their personal search resulted in recovery of 224 grams of American weed. During the interrogations the duo said that they had procured this drug through courier and had ordered it from dark net. The police are now probing the source of the drugs.
Bhiwandiwala told police that he works in Gulf and had returned in March. Since lockdown he couldn’t fly back and was facing financial problem.
"Bhiwandiwala contacted his old time friend Arif who arranged Rs 2 lakhs for the drugs. Both of them were likely to sell the drugs for a higher price when we caught them.’’ Said senior inspector Desai.
