BHUBANESWAR: In the largest single day spike so far, 225 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in
Odisha on Saturday raising total number of infected to 3,723.
More worryingly, positivity rate (percentage of samples returning positive) for the day was 5.7% compared to state’s average positivity rate of 1.9%. The 225 positive cases are from the 3880 samples tested.
The new positive cases include the highest 92 from
Cuttack. Others include
Ganjam (20), Khurda (19) besides 14 each from
Puri and Kandhamal among others.
There are 11 Covid warriors among the positive cases in Ganjam. They include a sub-divisional police officer and an inspector of police.
Meanwhile, 120 more patients recovered raising total number of recovered patients in state 2594. They include 33 from Ganjam, 18 from Gajapati, 13 from Sonepur, 12 from Balesore, eight each from Balangir and Khurda, seven from from Mayurbhanj, four from Cuttack besides three each from Jajpur, Nayagarh and Nuapada, two each from Dhenkanal, Puri and Rayagada and one each from Kendrapara and
Kalahandi.
With this the active cases in the state now stands at 1116 and cured 2,594. The state has reported 10
Covid deaths and deaths of three other Covid patients due to their co-morbidities.
