10 Mumbai cops test positive for coronavirus after nabbing infected thieves

As many as 10 policemen from Nehru Nagar Police Station in Kurla, Mumbai were found coronavirus positive after they arrested a gang of thieves for a shop break-in recently. The Mumbai Police personnel tested positive earlier this week and are now undergoing treatment.

The police team solved a case of theft at an electronics shop in Chembur. They arrested seven members of the gang based on a tip-off last week. Following this, the accused were remanded in police custody and their samples were sent for testing for coronavirus.

Five accused tested positive after which the policemen who interacted with them were tested. Two teams of five policemen which were involved in arresting, interrogating and taking them to the court have now tested positive for Covid-19.

The five infected accused are undergoing treatment at JJ hospital under police watch.
