From now, water misuse challans in Mohali

MOHALI: If you are caught washing your car or watering your lawn in the morning, be ready to pay a fine of Rs 1,000 from Saturday,
To curb water wastage this summer, the water supply and sanitation department will start issuing challans to people found wasting water till July 31. According to a notice, watering lawns, washing courtyards and vehicles are prohibited between 5.30am and 8.30am.
If a resident is found violating the order, a notice will be issued and Rs 1,000 will be imposed as fine if caught the second time. Second-time violation will invite a fine of Rest 2,000 and Rs 5,000 and a disconnection of the water supply for the third time. Anil Kumar, executive engineer, water supply department, said from June 13, teams will conduct random checks in the morning hours. Violators will not be spared, he said.
