FALL RIVER — The Bristol Community College Theatre program is currently enrolling a cohort of high school students in their senior year to complete their final year of high school as full-time theatre students at Bristol, beginning in fall 2020.

Students in the innovative dual-enrollment cohort will complete all Bristol theatre program courses and general education courses as well as participate in Bristol’s theatre program productions. Students can smoothly transfer to a four-year institution to complete a bachelor’s degree with the benefit of high school and college credits together saving both time and money. The program’s focus is on theatre but also prepares students to work in the related fields of film, television, voice-over and more.

The program is currently seeking students interested in acting, directing, writing and designing.

Welcomed are all students who have recently graduated from high school or are entering their senior year of high school and are looking to get their college theatre training underway, to virtually audition/interview for the exciting program.

The theatre program’s Intro to Theatre and Playwriting classes examine the fundamentals of scriptwriting and how it applies to film or television, while the Our Acting: Theatre to Film class, compares on-stage acting to on-camera acting. Bristol’s facilities allow students interested in design to experience small studio spaces, a large 770-seat proscenium theatre, as well as an advanced television station.

Auditions/interviews will be held, by appointment, by a Zoom video meeting, on Wednesdays throughout June, July and August from 10 a.m.  to 2 p.m. Once an appointment has been scheduled, a Zoom meeting link will be emailed one-hour prior to the start of the audition. Accommodations can be made for participants who cannot access the Zoom platform.

Students should plan to attend an audition/interview date to learn more about Bristol’s dual-enrollment and theatre programs and to share some of their work. Participation in the program is not contingent on an audition/ interview, however, it is strongly recommended.

Bristol’s theatre program is an Associate in Arts in liberal arts & sciences that provides hands-on training and experience allowing students to learn and refine their craft as they perform.
