NIPER scientist develops herbal tea for immunity-building

Pune: Dr Sanjay Jachak, a scientist working with Mohali-based National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPR), has developed a herbal tea which enhances personal immunity against any viral infection or its spread. Dr Jachak is the head of the natural products department in the institute and claims that his herbal tea will be useful for the prevention of coronavirus infection.

Dr Jachak has used the 'Rasayana' methodology from Charak and Sushrut Sanhita in Ayurveda to create an appropriate mixture of herbs.

Dr Jachak said, "Instead of treating after falling ill, Ayurveda works better in preventing the diseases. We have information about herbs which can boost immunity to fight against the virus and bacteria which enters the human body. The only thing missing was the right mixture of herbs which can work against the coronavirus in specific. We have done that research in our institute and created the NIPER Immuno Booster Herbal Tea. We are going to launch the herbal tea product in the market soon. The primary trials are over and its results are satisfactory."

"Research-based on modern ways of Ayurveda treatment for preventing the COVID-19 disease is progressing. The industry should come forward proactively to increase the production of Ayurvedic medicines. We are also making efforts to bring our product in the market," he added.
