AMBALA: The Ambala special task force (STF) arrested two men after recovering 60 gm chitta (heroin) from their possession on National Highway 44, which was being smuggled from Delhi to Ambala area under limits of Parao police station in Ambala district on Saturday, said STF Ambala in-charge deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Kulbhushan.
The accused have been identified as Amit Kumar of Sector 7, Ambala City and Kamal Nath of Uttar Pradesh (UP) presently living in Manav Chowk area of Ambala City and they would be presented in a local court on Sunday, told the police.
“We received the tip-off that accused Amit and his accomplice Kamal Nath would be bringing chitta from Delhi to Ambala in a Honda City car. Acting accordingly, we laid a trap and arrested the two from near Shashtri Chowk light point on NH 44 under limits of Parao police station. Upon checking, we recovered a total of 60 gm chitta from possession of Amit and Kamal Nath. One of them was possessing 20 gm and the other 40 gm”, said DSP Kulbhushan.
“On the complaint of a police officer, a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Parao police station and they would be presented in a local court on Sunday”, said DSP Kulbhushan.
“As per the preliminary investigation, it came to light that they procured the contraband from Delhi and accused Amit already has a case of NDPS Act registered against him at Dera Bassi police station in Mohali district as he was arrested with 30 gm heroin by the Punjab Police. We came to know from investigation that, Amit is a son of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Ambala district chief”, added DSP Kulbhushan.
