NEW DELHI: Under a public initiative to fight coronavirus pandemic the recreation centre in a Rohini society, Saraswati CGHS, was converted into a fully air-conditioned isolation centre unanimously by the residents. Over 1,000 persons live in the society which has many small flats which are unable to accommodate cases of home isolation.
“With all due approval from the district administration and local health authorities, the recreation centre has been converted into quarantine center. It will be used by the residents in case any of the resident turns Covid positive. It is safely away from the residential blocks and there is no fear of local spread,” BJP MLA Vijender Gupta, who motivating different societies in Rohini for creating such facilities, said.
The centre now contains oxygen cylinder, BP machine, sugar testing machine, required medicines and has an attached bathroom and toilet, water-heating machine among other facilities required in a quarantine centre. “Along with necessary equipment, the residents are ensuring cleanliness at the centre,” Gupta said.
The Delhi government is encouraging home isolation for asymptomatic Covid positive persons and as of Friday 17,261 persons are under home isolation.
