NIRF Ranking 2020 Live Updates: HRD minister to announce India rankings soon

NIRF India rankings 2020 will be announced today by HRD minister through live webcast.

NEW DELHI: The HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ will announce the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings 2020 via live webcast today i.e., June 11, 2020. The NIRF India Rankings 2020 for best universities and institutions in India will be released at 12.00 pm.

An information available on the official website reads “e-Release of India Rankings 2020 at 12:00 Noon on 11th June 2020 by Hon'ble Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank'.”

The NIRF India Rankings 2020 got delayed due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic. The rankings will be released for various categories — Overall, University, Engineering, College, Management, Pharmacy, Law, Architecture, and Medical.


Last year, NIRF India Rankings 2019 were announced by President of India Ram Nath Kovid on April 8, 2019.

A core committee set up by MHRD considers certain parameters such as Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception for ranking universities and institutions.

  • Jawaharlal Nehru University bagged the second position with 68.68 scores and the Banaras.
  • Hindu University got third rank with 65.55 scores.
  • For over all category, Indian Institute of Technology Madras had bagged first rank with 83.88 scores in in NIRF ranking 2019.
  • In Enginnering category of NIRF 2019 ranking, Indian Institute of Technology Madras had topped the list with 89.05 scores.
