Haryana govt to construct 1,000 water recharge bores

Haryana government has decided to construct 1,000 water recharge bores in underground water deficient areas of the state to recharge underground water with rainfall. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that 90 percent of the cost of the bore will be borne by the government and 10 percent by the farmers. He said in the paddy cultivation belt, the underground water level has gone down upto 80 meters and if timely measures are not taken, the future generations will suffer.

Mr Khattar said, the government has launched Mera Pani, Meri Virasat Yojana under which 53,000 farmers have opted and registered for not sowing paddy in 58,421 hectare area. They will opt for alternative crops and Rs 7,000 per hectare as a incentive will be given to these farmers. 1000 rupees premium of the new crop and benefit of Bhavanter Bharpai Yojana will also be given. He said, under Atal Bhujal Yojana, 734 crore rupees will be spend in three years.
