Ran Identifying covid suspects and immunization

Ranchi: In order to identify Covid-19 suspects with co-morbidities and to cover the gaps of immunisation which were affected due to the ongoing pandemic, the state health department will conduct a week-long community health survey from Saturday.
Talking to TOI on Wednesday, state health secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni said, “We have made an action plan for conducting a week-long special drive where more than 45,000 of our health workers will carry out a door-to-door community survey so that we can identify the Covid-19 suspects as well as those suffering from lifestyle diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes.”
Kulkarni added, “Our ANMs, sahiyas and community health workers will conduct the door-to-door screening to detect the coronavirus suspects and provide them with treatment at the earliest. If required, anganwadi workers will also be roped in for the survey.”
He further said, “The survey will help us in providing vaccination to those who missed our immunization drive owing to the coronavirus-induced lockdown.”
Explaining the modus operandi of the survey, a senior health department official said the medical teams will be provided with essential vaccination and medicines and based on the screening report, a doctor will visit the area and provide consultation to the patients. “In case our team reports a Covid-19 suspect during the drive, a doctor will examine the patient on that day itself and will send his swab samples for a test after conducting a detailed medical examination,” the official added.
He further said that if a person complains of hypertension and diabetes, the medical team will do conduct an immediate diagnosis.
“If we are able to come up with a database of patients suffering from chronic diseases and are able to provide timely diagnosis to them, we will be able to reduce the mortality rate in Covid as well as non-Covid cases,” the health secretary said.
