3 Army personnel among six new Covid-19 cases in Arunachal
Six more people, including three Army personnel, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, taking the total number of cases in the state to 67, a health department official said on Friday. Three Army men tested positive for the disease in Singchung sub-division of West Kameng district on Thursday night, while two persons were detected with the infection in Changlang and one in Longding, he said.

SC takes serious view of alleged non-payment of salary and non-arrangement of proper accommodation for doctors and healthcare staff for quarantine purposes. SC also expressed anguish over allegations about doctors being not paid full salary for months both in private and government hospitals. The team of researchers at the University of Georgia (UGA) in the US noted that the SARS-CoV-2 protein PLpro is essential for the replication and the ability of the virus to suppress host immune function. The compounds, naphthalene-based PLpro inhibitors, are shown to be effective at halting SARS-CoV-2 PLpro activity as well as replication, according to the research published in the journal ACS Infectious Diseases.

Scientists have developed a new simplified Covid-19 diagnostic test that can be ramped up to analyse thousands of blood samples at labs lacking the resources of commercial medical centres, an advance that may help scale up testing for the deadly disease. According to the researchers from the University of North Carolina in the US, there is a need for widely applicable surveillance testing to gain a better understanding of infection rates, especially the number of people with mild or no symptoms of Covid-19, who can still be carriers of the disease.

New Covid cases cross 10,000-mark for first time in India
