Amidst growing cases of coronavirus contraction, the country is preparing to launch clothes made with antivirus textile technology for the first time. Soothing-shirting fabrics and finished fabrics made with this technology will hit the market by the end of June. It is being claimed that it has the ability to reduce 99.99 percent of germs.
Kulin Lalabhai, executive director of Arvind Ltd, a textile and apparel company, has announced the launch of antivirus clothing under the IntelliFabrics brand. The antivirus fabrics are manufactured by Arvind Ltd. in collaboration with Swiss textile innovation company Hack Materials AG and Taiwan's leading specialty chemical company Gentex Corporation.
A high official of the company said that IntelliFabrics currently has sales revenue of one thousand crore rupees and the company plans to increase sales by 50 to 100 crores through anti-virus fabrics and garments in the next few months.
Research, the company said, shows that viruses and bacteria can remain active on textile surfaces for up to two days. Clothes treated with HEQ viroblocks prevent viruses to help reduce the ability of the re-transmission of germs through clothing.
Kulin Lalbhai said, “The world is facing an unprecedented crisis due to Kovid-19. In this context, we are committed to keeping our customers safe and that is why we have tied up with HEQ to bring revolutionary Viroblock technology to India. '
