NEW DELHI: State broadcaster of Pakistan, the PTV News channel on Wednesday fired two employees for airing an incorrect map of Pakistan which showed Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as part of Indian territory. The "incorrect" images were aired on the channel on June 6 and an inquiry committee was designated to probe the matter which held two employees accountable for "professional oversight", as per the channel's official statement on Twitter.

The incident was also condemned by two Pakistan lawmakers. Minister for science and technology Fawad Chaudhry and minister for human rights Shireen Mazari had urged information minister Shibli Faraz to take cognizance of the negligence. The incident also drew ire of twitterati who took to social media expressing their discontent. In a tweet on June 7, PTV had said it had "zero tolerance for such negligence" and had assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible.
