EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

The Indian markets clawed their way off the opening lows but were still trading with nearly half a per cent cut on Thursday amid weakness in global stocks after the US Fed's latest policy statement in which it reassured investors of its support for the economy but projected a 6.5 per cent decline in US GDP this year. The S&P BSE Sensex dipped 80 points at 34,150 levels and the Nifty50 index hovered around 10,090 mark. Sun Pharma (down 3%) was the top Sensex laggard, followed by HDFC Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank (both down over 1%). On the other hand, IndusInd Bank rose 5 per cent.
The trend among Nifty sectoral indices was mixed. Nifty PSU Bank index, up over 1 per cent was the top gainer.
