The six-lane underpass will link Sec 52 station with Vikas MargNOIDA: One part of Sector 71 underpass that connects Sector 62 to 7X sectors was thrown open for vehicles on Wednesday. Officials said another lane that will link Noida City Centre with Parthala Chowk will be ready by December this year.
The Sector 52/71 intersection was shut in July last year for the construction of the underpass. The six-lane underpass extending up to about 800m will link Sector 52 metro station with Vikas Marg.
The underpass is needed to reduce burden at the intersection that has Blue Line and Metro Aqua line metro stations on either side. Since a lot of people use the Sector 52 (Blue Line) station to travel between Delhi and Noida Extension, commercial and private vehicles clog the intersection.
General manager, Noida Authority, KK Agarwal, said the road is being readied at a cost of Rs 52 crore.
“Movement via Vishwakarma Road will be allowed (from Sector 62 to the 7X sectors) from Thursday. Vikas Marg underpass, which will connect Noida City Centre to Parthala Chowk, would be ready by the end of December,” Agarwal added.
Residents of 7X sectors said it is a big relief now that the road is open. “It is a relief for us. But some people can be seen driving on the wrong side,” said Ganesh Rawat, a resident of Sector 75.
