AMBALA: A 23-year-old woman from Delhi, who was suffering tuberculosis (TB), died at Covid Care Centre at MMU Hospital in
Ambala district on Wednesday morning.
The report of the woman came positive for Covid-19 infection after her death, civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh said.
“A woman from Maujpur area in Delhi was already suffering from TB and had severe infection in her lungs. She died at MMU Hospital on Wednesday morning. She was anemic and was in critical condition. Under the precautionary measures, we had collected her sample for Covid-19 test on Wednesday morning and she reported positive after her death on Wednesday late evening," Dr Kuldeep said.
“When she got admitted at the civil hospital in Ambala Cantonment on June 9, her condition was already critical due to TB. Due to her serious condition, she was put in isolation at MMU Hospital on June 9 only,”he said.
“We have collected seven samples of her family members from Delhi and relatives living in Ambala for Covid-19 test,” Dr Kuldeep said.
When asked about her cremation, Dr Kuldeep said, “We have written to the civic bodies officials to conduct her cremation in Ambala district only.”
“The woman has been cremated at a designated cremation ground in Top Khana area of Ambala Cantt," said Rajesh Kumar, secretary, Ambala Sadar Municipal Council.
