196 Panjab University colleges can carry out online admissions

CHANDIGARH: Panjab University will allow online admissions in 196 affiliated colleges for the academic session of 2020-21. The decision was taken in a meeting of a committee held to finalise the admission guidelines under the chairmanship of Professor Sanjay Kaushik, dean, College Development Council, PU, on Wednesday.
Kaushik said both online and offline modes of admissions will be available to students owing to the coronavirus pandemic. He said only Chandigarh institutes conducted online admissions last time. He said the university will ask students to send copies of their certificates by post or scan and mail them. He said implementing the EWS admission quota in colleges was difficult last time as directions from the higher authorities came late. This time they will be executed on time, he assured.
He said the dates of admission are not yet confirmed and will depend upon the examination schedule of PU.
Members of the committee discussed the admission schedule for various undergraduate and postgraduate 44 courses to be included in the admission guidelines which will be prepared in consonance with PU academic calendar and examination schedule for the 2020-2021 session.
The committee also discussed the eligibility guidelines of the admission along with online and offline modes of admissions.
