GURUGRAM: The city reported 217 cases of Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, taking its tally to 2,546. Of these, 1,709 are active cases. Gurugram’s Covid toll also climbed to 13, with two people succumbing to the infection.
“We are screening and testing more and the strategy is to find out the primary carrier of the virus before he or she infects others,” said a health department official.
Four districts — Gurugram, Faridabad, Panipat and Jind — will be monitored by a central government team, which will assist the state government by providing technical support, outlining an effective containment plan, and augmenting testing and tracing efforts, the official added.
Meanwhile, the Covid toll in Faridabad on Wednesday mounted to 17 as three more people — three men aged 46, 67 and 82, died.
The 67-year-old man had cough and fever since five days and had complained of breathlessness. He was also suffering from hypertension and a renal disease. He was put on ventilator on June 3 and tested
positive the next day. He was shifted to ESIC Medical College and Hospital where he remained critical before suffering a cardiac arrest. While the 82-year-old man had fever, cough, bodyache and headache, the 46-year-old man was suffering from diabetes.
Meanwhile, 55 more people tested positive in the district, taking its case count to 995.
So far, 15,919 samples have been sent for testing, out of which 14,085 have returned negative. The reports of 839 samples are still awaited. While 307 patients have been discharged, another 385 are in hospital and 286 are in home isolation.
