Sarzora rejoices as son-of-soil set to become Portugal FM

Margao: Sarzora village is rejoicing as son of the village João Leão Fernandes is bracing to take over as the new finance minister of Portugal. 

Sarzora sarpanch Sabita Mascarenhas, speaking to this daily, said that it is really a proud moment for all Sarzora villagers “as one of the son of our soil is taking over as a finance ministry of Portugal. I take this opportunity as a sarpanch of the village to congratulate Mr Joao and his family.”

She said that she will move a congratulatory motion at the ensuing panchayat body meeting on June 15 which also coincides with Fernandes taking oath as the finance minister. She said that the panchayat will later forward the resolution to Fernandes through email.

Mascarenhas further said that in view of the pandemic, the gram sabha has been cancelled and the entire village is unable to express their joy however the panchayat members will represent the people of their wards to congratulate Fernandes.
