New Delhi: The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has requested the Mumbai Police to file an FIR against Ekta Kapoor and her production house ALTBalaji for a controversial episode in her web series ‘Triple X’.

In a statement released Wednesday (10 June), AICWA expressed concern over the episode which “degrade the dignity of the Army uniform and their families”.

Triple X is an erotic comedy-drama directed by Ken Ghosh. It revolves around five different stories and explore varying aspects of relationships. The first episode of the web series was aired on 27 September 2018.

The AICWA, in its application to the Mumbai Police, has urged authorities to “take cognizance of the public sentiment that has been hurt” by “scenes related (to the) Indian Army, its uniform…and soldiers who work for the country”.

The association has also written to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting demanding a censor board for OTT platforms to control “content, scenes and vulgarity” in web series.

The body has alleged that in many web series derogatory and vulgar language have been used for “former prime ministers, press, temples, mosques, god and against many dignitaries of the country”.

Controversial scene deleted

An FIR has already been registered against Kapoor and two others on “charges of obscenity, hurting religious feelings, and improper use of national emblems” in the second season of their show ‘Triple X’. The scene in question is that of a controversial sex scene.

“As an individual and as an organisation, we are deeply respectful towards Indian Army. Their contribution to our well-being and security is immense. We have already deleted the scene that is being spoken about, so the action has been taken from our side.

“We fully apologise for any sentiment that is hurt unintentionally. What we don’t appreciate is the bullying and the rape threats by the trolls,” Kapoor said in a statement.

While she has already removed the controversial scene, the AICWA has demanded the entire episode to be taken down.
