Three held for wrongful restraint, assault

Mapusa: Mapusa  police arrested three persons for alleged wrongful restraint and assaulting a Carona resident and damaging his bus, causing damage to the tune of Rs 5 lakh.

It may be recalled that Mapusa police had booked four masked persons following a complaint from Ramkrishna Chodankar from Carona, who had complained that he was assaulted and his bus damaged on February 27.

Mapusa police had registered the offence under sections 341, 427, 504, 323 and 506 ii of Indian Penal Code against Suraj Halarnkar, 26, a resident of Ecoxim, Samarth Shirodkar, 24 and Samuel D’Souza.

In this connection, Suraj Halarnkar and Samarth Shirodkar had moved an anticipatory bail application which was rejected. Following which, Mapusa police arrested all three of them.

Suraj Harlankar was produced before local court which remanded him to four days in police custody. Mapusa police is further investigating the case
