Delhi government on Wednesday said that it will implement Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal ’s directive and will allow pateints from other States to undergo treatment in State government-run hospitals in the national capital.
“This is not the time for arguments and we will follow the Lt Governor’s order,” said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal while addressing a virtual press conference.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Lt Governor has overruled Delhi government’s decision which said that Delhi government hospitals will be reserved only for treatment of the residents of Delhi while Central government hospitals in the national capital can be open for all.
Besides, it was also announced that private hospitals except those where special surgeries are performed would also be reserved for the people of Delhi.
Kejriwal who underwent a Covid-19 test on Tuesday following sore throat and fever, said: “My Covid-19 test has come negative and I thank everyone for their wishes.”
Delhi government has also opened its borders from Monday. It also opened malls, restaurants and religious places. However, hotels and banquets will remain closed.
Kejriwal said as per projections Delhi would have 5.25 lakh cases by July 31. “Keeping this in mind, we are preparing 80,000 beds in the hospitals,” he added.
