- Liquid gathered on the right side of her top lip, leaving her with lopsided mouth
- She went on to have it dissolved - but has suffered complications for two years
- Lips become hot and painful and have exploded on five different occasions
A young mother has revealed how she worried she would be 'disfigured for life' after dodgy lip fillers left her in constant pain for years.
Gemma Palmer, 35, from Litherland, went to a local beautician in October 2018 and paid £180 to have her lips injected with a full millilitre of lip filler - double her usual dose.
But the liquid gathered together on the right side of her top lip, leaving her mouth lopsided, swollen and painful mouth.
She went on to have the liquid dissolved, but continued to have complications with the dodgy filler, with her mouth filling with blisters and lips bursting open on five separate occasions.
She explained that the pain has become 'more extreme' every time her lips explode, revealing: 'I was really scared and worried when my lip exploded - I was so anxious that it could leave me disfigured for life.'

Gemma Palmer, 35, from Lancashire, has revealed how dodgy lip fillers left her in 'extreme pain' for years and she feared she would be 'disfigured for life'

The young mother had half a millilitetre of lip filler injected in August 2017, and then double her usual lip filler injected in October 2018
Gemma had previously had half a millilitre of lip filler injected in August 2017 with no problems.
Missing her plumped pout, she had her lips injected again in October 2018, this time with a full millilitre of lip filler.
One week after her injection, Gemma's lip filler clumped together in a painful lump on the right side of her mouth.
Her lips were left so painful and swollen that she was unable to eat anything except for soup.

After the lip filler was injected, it began to swell on one side of Gemma's mouth and she was left swollen and in pain

Gemma had the filler dissolved, but months later she felt her mouth 'throbbing', while her lip became hot and swollen

Despite having the filler removed, Gemma's lips have continued to suffer complications from the dodgy cosmetic surgery
After being unable to massage the filler out, one week later, Gemma went on to have her filler dissolved.
She continued with normal life but, eight months later in July 2019, her lip began to grow hot and swollen.
Gemma said: 'I was at home cleaning when I felt a burning sensation and throbbing in my lip.
'I knew it was about to flare up again but hoped it would be ok by the morning - how wrong I was!

Over the last two years, the young mother has suffered flair ups from the filler swelling and bursting her lip open (pictured)
'I woke up and my lip had swollen up so much that I could hardly speak.
'It carried on swelling over the next couple of days until it finally popped open which was both disgusting and extremely painful.'
Gemma visited her local GP surgery but despite telling them about her previous problems with lip fillers, her issue was dismissed as a cold sore.
Sent home with anti-viral tablets, Gemma's lip slowly cleared up over the next few weeks but she's had the same problem come back every few months.
Gemma said: 'It was horrific, I was in so much pain both physically and mentally.
'My lip made me cry and I was so upset both before and after my lip exploded as the pain and the swelling affected my everyday life.
'I felt so embarrassed and ashamed to leave my house and also embarrassed to tell people what exactly had happened.
'All together, I've had about six weeks off of work because of the lip filler problems.'
She has now suffered with her lip swelling and exploding five times - most recently in March this year.
She explained: 'The pain gets more extreme every time and this time round has definitely been the worst.
'My whole mouth filled with blisters from the swelling which kept popping and filling my entire mouth with blood.'
She explained: 'I couldn't eat, I was in constant pain.'
Tired of being dismissed by doctors she visited a private cosmetic surgery expert who finally told her why it was happening.

Gemma revealed how the swelling leaves her mouth filled with blisters which keep 'popping and filling her mouth with blood' (pictured)
'She told me straight away that there was still lip filler trapped inside my top lip two years after I got injected,' she said.
'She will be putting a dissolvant in my lip and then I'll be on antibiotics for a week and hopefully this will be the last time it happens.
'I've been in agony for two years because of these problems and I just want other girls to know the danger of lip fillers before they go ahead and get injected.
'I do feel deep regret and I wish I had never had them done.'

She now says she wishes she had never had the fillers done, and wants to warn others about the dangers of the cosmetic surgery
