GURUGRAM: Around 22 health workers, including medical officers and nursing staff of Manesar primary health centre (PHC) ,were put into home quarantine on Monday after a staff nurse of PHC tested positive. The centre has put up a poster on its entry gate informing people that it will remain closed till June 18, while anganwadi and asha workers will continue with their field work.
"The centre has around 40 health workers, of which 22 had come in contact with the patient, and their samples were collected on Monday. The results are expected on Wednesday," an official said.
Giving out details, a health department official said, the nurse - a resident of Pachgaon- was undergoing treatment for typhoid for the last 10 days. She had recently visited a private hospital in Rewari. However, on resuming her duties, she started feeling unwell and was showing symptoms of Covid-19. Her samples were sent for testing on June 4 and the results were out on Sunday.
"The infected nurse is undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at the government facility in Sector 9. She had come in contact 22 other health workers, including a nurse, lab technician and a few from the accounts department. We have sent them all to home quarantine, while samples of all 40 health workers have been sent for testing," said Dr Praveen Chaudhary, medical officer of Manesar PHC.
On an average, around 250 patients visit the primary health centre in Manesar regularly as it provides OPD facilities.
